About the Program ...

The New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program (NHSLRP) strives to encourage lodging and restaurant facilities throughout the state to continually evaluate operations for more environmentally sustainable means of pampering our guests while protecting the place that both we and our guests love.  The program promotes facilities reducing their impact on the land and natural resources through their own selected initiatives.  NHSLRP strives to prosper by helping the hospitality industry realize the financial and marketing benefits associated with potential environmental endeavors.

The New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program envisions a time when our travel, dining and leisure activities do not adversely affect the places we visit.  In the interim, we hope to …

¨ Reduce our environmental footprint

¨ Provide a better workplace and guest experience

¨ Share our understanding of how to lessen our impact on the environment  with our guests, our employees, our suppliers and our fellow businesses.

The program strives to provide participants with regular educational opportunities, environmental resources, contacts and networking and marketing to the fastest growing tourism segment, eco-tourists.

· Seminars cover topics such as the latest in Energy Efficiency in the lodging and restaurant industries, financial evaluation of energy efficient initiatives, landscaping with native plantings, organic lawn care, and cleaning with safer alternatives.

· Access to online resources, tools and sustainable business ideas and articles.

· NHSLRP staff help properties identify contacts with experience implementing initiatives in targeted areas.

· The NHSLRP works with other environmentally-oriented groups to share our commitment with potentially new guests and business groups.

· And the program is FREE !!
