Certification Levels

At any level, applicants are asked to share their commitment to the environment with guests and employees.  This can be as simple as displaying the program’s Statement of Commitment or developing your own and displaying it on your website or at your property.  Applicants are also asked to ...

· Designate a “Green Manager” or Team (depending on the size of the facility) that will evaluate and track initiatives and provide guidance to staff, when needed.

· Report their progress to the NHSLP Manager on an annual basis.

Additionally, each level requires differing degrees of participation in the focus areas; energy efficiency,  water conservation, waste and hazardous waste reduction and education.  Each focus area has a list of suggested initiatives for more environmentally friendly operations.

Endorsing Partner - Commit to evaluating at least one initiative in each focus area.

Environmental Partner - Implement a minimum of two initiatives in each focus area.

Environmental Champion - Attain  “green” certification through an independent third party environmental audit OR achieve an average rating of 4.0 in each focus area through a NHSLRP audit.
