Certification Levels

At any level, applicants are asked to share their commitment to the environment with guests and employees.  This can be as simple as displaying the program’s Statement of Commitment or developing your own and displaying it on your website or at your property.  Applicants are also asked to ...

· Designate a “Green Manager” or Team (depending on the size of the facility) that will evaluate and track initiatives and provide guidance to staff, when needed.

· Report their progress to the NHSLRP Manager on an bi-annual basis.

Additionally, each level requires differing degrees of participation in the focus areas; energy efficiency,  water conservation, waste and hazardous waste reduction and education.  Each focus area has a list of suggested initiatives for more environmentally friendly operations.

Endorsing Partner - Commit to evaluating at least one initiative in each focus area.

Environmental Partner - Achieve 100 points through implementation of sustainable initiatives defined in the NHSLRP self-certification workbook.  The NHSLRP manager will contact you to verify your application via a phone audit.  Random on-site visits are also conducted throughout the year.

Environmental Champion

Lodging Certification (Under 20 rooms) - Achieve 150 points through implementation of sustainable initiatives defined in the NHSLRP certification booklet and audited by NHSLRP staff or an approved third-party audit.

Lodging Certification (More than 20 rooms) and Restaurant Certification—Achieve 175 points through implementation of sustainable initiatives defined in the NHSLRP certification booklet and audited by NHSLRP staff or an approved third-party audit.

Directions for Certification

Flexible points-based application for both lodging and dining businesses.

1. Click on the appropriate button.  Download the application.   Print a copy of PDF file (double-sided of course!)

2. Complete the form.  The application includes many possible points, not all are necessary.  Make note of any environmental or community efforts you have implemented that are not listed.  They will be considered for additional points.  The goal of the NHSLRP is to encourage all NH hospitality to become more sustainable.  Although you must score at least 100 points to be listed, you can participate in the program with less.  We are happy to assist businesses interested in greening their operations!

3. Send it to: NHSLRP, 341 Loudon Road, Unit 3, P.O. Box 1175, Concord, NH 03302

4. The NHSLRP Manager will review you application and contact you to review or set up a visit.

5. The program has a $100 annual administrative fee.  NHLRA covers the fee for its members.
